The Iowa MCC Relief Sale was held at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Iowa City on May 30-31, 2014. Dave and Sandy Peterson, MCC Representatives from Zion Mennonite Church, coordinated many donations and volunteer hours from ZMC.
The quilt purchased by Zion Mennonite Church and donated to the sale brought $2,000 at auction and won several awards, including Best Hand Quilted, Best Color Combination, and Best Overall quilt!
Many volunteers from ZMC helped make apple butter at the Sale, and others worked hard preparing food and items to donate to the sale. The picture to the right shows the volunteers stirring apple butter in a large kettle set over a flame.
Our effort helps with relief and development around the world! The donations from Zion Mennonite Church for the MCC Sale were: Quilt $2,000, Apple Butter $3,456, Penny Power $829.69, Baked goods $709, Garden produce $168, Sewing cabinet $70, and Sewn items $38, all together totaling $7,270.69.
