We provide many opportunities for the Christian education of children in our congregation and wider community. We understand that children learn in different ways and that it is important both to study the Word of God and to learn by doing, and the various committees of our church work together to provide a variety of educational experiences to our children. Some of the opportunities provided are:
Sunday School: 9:30 – 10:20 a.m. each Sunday morning, September through May. Classes are offered for children from age three years through high school. All children are welcome to attend any Sunday that they are able.
The preschool through middle school classes will be using the Shine! curriculum published by MennoMedia. Students from age three through kindergarten will meet in Fellowship Center, and students in first through eighth grade will meet in the church basement.
Vacation Bible School: The three churches in our community (Donnellson United Methodist Church, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, and Zion Mennonite Church) jointly sponsor a week of ecumenical Vacation Bible School each summer. In 2018, VBS will be held July 22-26 at tSt. Paul’s United Church of Christ, from 6:15 – 8:15 p.m. The theme will be Rolling River Rampage!
Mission projects: Throughout the year, the Mission Committee provides many opportunities for the children to participate in mission projects, both local and international. For example, every year the children have enjoyed collecting change for the MCC My Coins Count project and planning on putting on a breakfast for the congregation in order to raise money for MCC, among others. The older children work on many mission projects through the Youth Group.
